Bioscience Manufacturing Technology Program

Grant Funded Training in the Bioscience Industry

Bioscience Image

A short-term Bioscience Training Program is being offered collaboratively through the Cincinnati State Workforce Development Center and Sinclair Community College. As beneficiaries of a U.S. Department of Labor and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant along with BioOhio as lead, Cincinnati State and Sinclair are working together to provide an extensive program in bioscience industry. Together, the two colleges have worked closely with regional pharmaceutical and medical device companies to develop a relevant curriculum which answers the skill requirements found in the Southwest Ohio region.

The seven week Bioscience certificate provides the skills needed for several positions such as development operators, manufacturing technicians, CNC operators, and laboratory and research assistants. The Bioscience Advisory Council stated that there is a critical shortage in all of these fields. The classes are currently being offered at the new Cincinnati State / Sinclair Bioscience Manufacturing Technology Lab located at Cincinnati State's Workforce Development Center in Evendale, 10100 Reading Road, Evendale, Ohio 45241-3100.

Over the next two years, we will train more than two hundred students in a new short term training program designed to upgrade the skills of under-employed, displaced or unemployed workers.  In addition, we will train incumbent workers, building upon existing skills enabling them to have the opportunity to move into higher level jobs with their employer.

The grant provides 100% of the cost of training (tuition, parking, fees and books) through the above mentioned funding source for qualified individuals.  We are currently taking applications for upcoming classes. Please reference the following links for the US Department of Labor Grant Application and the Student Admission Process Requirements.
